Abstract:
The concepts of community mapping and PGIS were briefly introduced in the article, and PGIS-based community mapping methods utilized in a participatory planning were summarized. Moreover, the approaches, impacts and negative issues of the methods were analyzed. The results show that the new method contributes to the promotion of communication among all stakeholders (villagers, planners and decision makers), and can assist rural communities and citizens to share new scientific and technological achievements.
