Abstract:
The pure and Ag-doped TiO2 nanoparticle powders are prepared by the sol-gel process using Ti(OC4H9 )4 and silver nitrate as precursors and acetic acid as the mixture to control hydrolysis, respectively. The TiO2 and Ag-TiO2 photocatalyst are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), and ultraviolet visible near infrared (UV-Vis-NIR). The results indicate that the average size of silver particles is 15 nm and silver nanoparticles are homogenously distributed on the coalescence of secondary TiO2 matrix. The changes of the crystalline phase of titanium dioxide are impacted by the calcination temperature and the incorporation of silver. The utilization efficiency of light is increased by the incorporation of silver.
