Abstract:
In the alkaline medium, it was found that the direct electrochemical oxidation of pyrogallol can produce a strong ECL signal on the surface of the graphite electrode. Based on this finding, a selective, rapid and simple ECL method for the determination of pyrogallol was developed. Under the optimum conditions, the ECL intensity was linear with the the concentration of pyrogallol in the range of 2.0×10-6 mol/L~4.0×10-4 mol/L and the detection limit of this new method for pyrogallol was 5×10-7 mol/L, the relative standard deviation was 28% for 1.0×10-5 mol/L of pyrogallol(n=11). The proposed method was used in the determination of pyrogallol in tap water with satisfactory results. The recovery rate was 96.7%~110%.
