Abstract:
Reaction of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O with 3-Nitrophthalic acid and 2,2′-Bipyridyl in EtOH/H2O solution gave a dinuclear complex [Cu2(C8H3NO6)2(C10H8N2)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (C8H3NO6=3-Nitrophthalate, C10H8N2=2,2′-Bipyridyl). The complex was characterized by elemental analysis,IR spectra, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, which revealed that the title compound is triclinic in space group P-1 with crystal parameters of a=0.753 4(19)nm, b=1.046 7(3)nm, c=1.204 4(3)nm, α=87.835(2)°, β=74.911(3)°, γ=77.437(3)°, V=0.894 9(4)nm3, Z=1, Dc=1.725 g/cm3, μ=1.277 mm-1, F(000)=474, R=0.0382. The central copper cation is 5-coordinated in a square pyramidal coordination sphere with the five coordination donor atoms situated on the vertexes. Every two central-symmetrically related coordination units form a dimer as a Cu—O bond involved. The discrete molecules are connected to form a three-dimensional network by weak supramolecular interactions such as intermolecular hydrogen-bonds and π-π stacking, CCDC 621787.
