Abstract:
A novel ternary complex of Nd(Ⅲ) with 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and gatifloxacin (GA) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR. The composition of complex Nd (phen)2(GA)3· H2O was determined. The ligands (phen and GA) are coordinated to the Nd(Ⅲ) ion in a bidentate chelating form, and the coordination number of metallic ion is ten. The spectra of fluorescence and UV showed that there are interaction between complex and DNA, The anti-microbial activity of this compound is probably related to this interaction.
