Abstract:
Abies fargesii is an endemic and major constructive species on Qinling. The structure and dynamics of A. fargesii population in Taibai Mountain were analyzed by using the trunk size structure rather than age structure, life table and survival analysis. The relation between the seedling of A. fargesii population and environmental factors was also studied by multivariate regression analysis. The results showed that the survival curves of A. fargesii population on north and south slopes of Taibai Mountain all are inclined to the type DeeveyⅡ. Abies fargesii junior individuals, including seedling and sapling, were relatively abundant. The size structure of A. fargesii population exhibits a growing type. There was a significant correlation between the regeneration of A. fargesii seedling and litter and soil thickness. Humus thickness and altitude have a very significant correlation with A. fargesii seedling. Altitude and humus thickness might be the limiting factors for regeneration of A. fargesii seedling.
