Used the survey data of the tourism resources in Shaanxi province and considered the flow of mapping in GIS engineering, the mapping of tourism resources in Shaanxi province based on the combination of GIS and GPS was studied on the basis of the ArcGIS software. The result of study indicates that, the combined technologies of both GIS and GPS have not only provided the convenient methods and shortcut of collecting and managing data for the mapping of tourism resources, but also more scientifically and efficiently solved the below-mentioned key problems of mapping: one is the batch labeling of the tourism resources, the other is the matching of two different scales and projection types. At the same time, this study has also provided the further development and whole planning of tourism resources in Shaanxi province with the first fundamental data.
