Abstract:
The dynamic consolidation of virtual machine (VM) is an effective way to improve the physical resource utilization in Cloud computing and reduce the energy consumption of the Cloud data centers. The related research progress of VM dynamic consolidation and the existing key technologies in Cloud computing are analyzed. First of all, the architecture of Cloud computing is given. Secondly, four indicators including energy consumption, QoS, SLA and VM migration cost, and proposes the optimization goal are discussed. Moreover, the research methods and key technologies according to the three steps of VM dynamic consolidation are discussed, and the view of optimization of energy consumption and performance is analyzed. Finally, the key problems are described, and the research prospect for the future work is put forward, including dynamic consolidation policy, the compromise between energy efficiency and performance, QoS and SLA, resource allocation and security.
