Abstract:
From the new perspective of spatial and temporal behavior, the relation of human activity and urban space are studied in the study. Based on the latitude and longitude coordinates which were released by micro-blog users of Xi′an city from July to December in 2015 as the data source, the residents′ weekend activity space was measured by using GIS spatial analysis, standard confidence ellipse and overlay analysis methods. It was discovered that the activity points of Xi′an urban residents on weekends are distributed from Northeast to Southwest and concentrated on Chang′an road. The average area of residents′ daily activity is 40.34 km2 on weekend, and the average daily distance of residents′ travel is 12.24 km. The difference of travel activity among individuals was great. The results indicated that the urban residents′ activity spaces show some new features because of the rapid expansion of the city and the speedy development of the transportation. While,as the main activity time of residents, daily entertainment,the weekends show significantly different characteristics compared with weeks.
