Abstract:
The effects of three kinds of typical inorganic salts, i.e., potassium chloride, ammonium chloride, and aluminum chloride, on the pH oscillating behaviors of BrO-3-SO2-3-Fe(CN)4-6(BSF) system were investigated. The following results were obtained. The amplitude and period of pH for BSF system decreased linearly with the increase of inorganic salts. The effects of neutral salt KCl on the pH oscillating behaviors can be ascribed to primary salt effect, and the effects of weak acid salt NH4Cl can be ascribed to primary salt effect and acidic function, while the most remarkable effects of weak acid salt AlCl3 also possesses certain buffer effect. This research showed that, the amplitude and period of pH oscillation can be decreased more or less by introduction of different kinds and concentration of inorganic salts.
