Abstract:
The diseases of the wall paintings in Xiaweizhuang temple, Nanjing, such as human contamination, dust stain, crimp and exfliation were analyzed. The targeted protection protocols were designed to clean the dust on the surface, remove surface layer of the lime, reveal and consolidate the faded wall paintings, as well as return and strengthen the wall paintings with crisp powder. The results showed that the wall paintings in Xiaweizhuang temple, Nanjing have been effectively treated and well preserved by the designed methods. These method are helpful for the treatment of similar disease in ancient murals.
