Abstract:
A new distribution species, Fargesia murielae(Gamble) Yi, as giant panda's food from Qinling Mountains was reported. The distribution of the species was previously reported only in Mt. Shennongjia, Hubei Province, we found that this species is also distributed in Shaanxi Pingheliang National Nature Reserve, Guangtoushan in Chang′an and Niubeiliang National Nature Reserve in Zhashui in mid-Qinling area. Pingheliang Reserve is located in the easternmost part of giant panda's distribution in Mt. Qinling and F. murielae is the only bamboo species which is distributed in the relatively higher altitude in this area, thus, it can be confirmed that F. murielae is the food of the local giant panda.
