Abstract:
The Xigou No.4 and No.5 tombs in Jiuquan were excavated by Gansu provincial Institute of Archaeology in 1993, and it was appraised as the national regional key cultural preservation unit. After 20 years of its excavation, the wall paintings of the tombs have generated serious crisp powder, whitening and loss and other diseases. The water content, pH, conductivity, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), energy spectrum(EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of the samples were analyzed. Results showed that the main slight soluble and soluble salt in the sample are sodium sulphate and calcium sulfate.Additionally, damaged forms of the mural were studied, in order to make the contribution for the scientific protection in future.
