Spatiotemporal differences in coupling relationship between tourism industry and regional economy

Abstract:
Using coupling theory in physics, the coupling interaction mechanism between tourism industry system and regional economy system is discussed, coupling evaluation model and indexes of two systems are constructed, and the coupling coordination degree of two systems is analyzed empirically based on 31 provinces of China′s mainland provincial panel date from 1993 to 2011.The research results show there is apparent coupling development characteristic between tourism industry system and regional economic system;the comprehensive development level of two systems in general present a stable development momentum, maintaining the strong consistency spatially; coupling coordination degree of two systems is different significantly in time and space,and present the spatial pattern of gradient increasing from western region to eastern region and “southern better than northern” from northern region to southern region.
