Abstract:
The equivalence factor and yield factor of Shaanxi province are calculated from 2005 to 2010 based on net primary productivity of ecological footprint (EFNPP) and MODIS remote sensing data, then per capita ecological footprint and biological carrying capacity of Shaanxi province from 2005 to 2010 are estimated, and the calculation results are compared with the traditional ecological footprint model(EFGAEZ).Results show that equivalence factor and yield factor of Shaanxi province varied every year because of changes of annual NPP for all kinds of land. The most obvious variety occured in water with the equivalence factor of 1.214 in 2006 and 0.815 in 2010, and the yield factor of 2.765 in 2008 and 1.34 in 2005. In comparison with EFGAEZ, incremental ecological footprint is higher for EFNPP. The increasing rate is 5.89% for EFNPP and 4.17% for EFGAEZ, respectively. The biological carrying capacity of EFNPP increased in 2007,2008 and 2010, while it decreased yearly for EFGAEZ. The ecological deficit of Shaanxi province is aggravated, and the ecological pressure is greater year by year.
