Analysis on spatial and temporal characteristics of the coupling coordination evolution between regional urbanization and tourism

Abstract:
With the help of coupling function in Physics, the index system and coupling coordinative calculation model were built in the paper between urbanization and tourism system. Taking 10 prefecture -level cities of Shaanxi province as examples, the quantitative analysis of the coupling relationship between tourism and urbanization was made. The results show: (1) There was a steady increase of coupling coordination degree of 10 cities in Shaanxi province during 2001-2011, which present an overall potential trend of tourism development. (2) The feature of coordinated development degree of urbanization and tourism development of 10 cities in Shaanxi province was distributed along the regional block. Thus,special efforts should be made to enhance the exemplary role of central city and the pushing force of tourism towards urbanization.
