Abstract:
The criteria of editorial technology refer to a generalization and qualification of the process of editing activity and mode of optimizing editorial products, which go through every way and whole process of editorial activity. The editorial criteria are uniform, advanced and operable, and contain mainly two parts: the criteria to control editorial activity and those for editorial products. Under the current circumstances of changeable editing objects and diverse editorial activities, the following 11 criteria should be observed in the process of completing an editorial product: studying the information, working a program of subjects, collecting and selecting manuscripts, examining the manuscripts, binding and designing, giving back the manuscripts for proofreading, checking the samples, advertising and evaluating, feedback of information and work of editorial affairs. The criteria for editorial products consist of the criteria for contents and those for form. In current study and practice of editorial criteria, attention should be paid to properly understanding and dealing with the relation between compulsory standards and recommended standards and inconformity between national standards and international standards and between standards and criteria of different styles, different levels and different editions, in which an organic integrity between principle and flexibility should be maintained in carrying out technological standards and criteria.
