In his paper My Query: a Reaction to Reading The Biographies of Qu Yuan and Jia Sheng in The Records of the Historian, Mr. Wang Chunhong offered his doubt about the authorship of The Biographies of Qu Yuan and Jia Sheng, thinking that it should Liu Xiang. His point of view, however, cannot hold water. His paper makes misleading analyses of many documents and materials, collecting his bases by investigating such internal and external elements as Sima Qian and his like’s view of sovereignsubject relationship and the trend of advocating civil rather than military art in the reign of Emperor Wen. But all this fails to support the view that Liu Xiang was the author of The Biographies of Qu Yuan and Jia Sheng.
