Abstract:
In the horizon of modernity, modern political philosophy presupposes closed society and open society, which substitutes the matter of progress for the matter of moral. This lasting deep dispute determines the altitude to be reached and the function to be fulfilled by civic education in an open society. The conception of modern civic education is in line with the political conception of modern open society. The three mutuallyrelated characteristics, depoliticization, vulgarization and technicalization, jointly shapes the style of civic education in an open society, which faces modern civic education as the most demanding problem.
