Abstract:
Since modern times, study of Chinese history of aesthetics has been associated with the following three issues. The first issue concerns the borrowing of aesthetic conception and appearance and development of the framework of Chinese aesthetic study. The second discusses the hindering of the mode borrowed along with western works of aesthetic principles to the writing of Chinese history of aesthetics. The last involves characteristics of Chinese aesthetics attempted to single out in dialogues between China and west. The above three issues shaped the basis and state of studies of Chinese history of aesthetics before the 1980’s and also offered three related problems.
