Abstract:
A century ago, Marx showed close concern with urban development and theorized the necessity to remove distinctions between city and country. For hundred years three socalled revolutionary changes have happened in development of worldwide urbanization: fighting “the city diseases”, initiating the campaign of “the country changing the city”, and building the “regionalweb” mode of urbanization. This objectively proves the scientific significance of Marx’s theory about urban development and reveals the law of modern urban evolution. Considering the above fact, we should map out a path of Chinacharacteristic urbanization by following Marxist scientific theory of urbanization. In practice of planning urban development, we should give enough expression to laws of historical development, authentically absorbing the revolutionary instructions and predictably exploring a road of great innovative significance.
