Abstract:
The role of “the teacher as an intellectual” is neglected in the professional standards for primary and middle school teachers in our country. The teacher’s professional standards are the product of technical reason, which inhibits the teacher’s dimension of critical thinking, alienates the teacherstudent relationship in the course of education, and deconstructs the social role of “the teacher as an intellectual”. Since the carrier of civil education and reflector of professional practice is the necessary role of “the teacher as an intellectual”, it is necessary to reconstruct the role of “the teacher as an intellectual” in terms of critical education.
