Abstract:
The proposal that a directorboard system be introduced into Chinese universities deserves to be deeply considered. Historically, there was no board of directors for a long time. Based on the current practice, not every university needs a board of directors. Functionally, the university’s board of directors mainly coordinates the value judgments from all sides and supplies support of external resources. However, for Chinese universities, the performance of the two abovementioned functions will be balanced by power and affected by governing strcture and regulation technology. Thus the advantages and disadvantages of introducing the directorboard system into universities cannot be determined in a general sense.
