Abstract:
In different phases of Chinese history happened several incidents of paying and declining wine tribute. All these incidents, however, shared the reason. As a prosperous produce lasting for millennia over there, the wine was produced all over the vast geographical space of the West. As a result, the wine symbolized the West and was given a certain symbolic implication, which was most prominently showed in Tang poetry.
