Abstract:
The historical periods of the Jin and the Tang Dynasty were the important days when Buddhist belief of Sukhaviti spread and developed in China. It was just in these periods that the belief of Sukhaviti became localized, namely, Chinesized. For the environment of Chinesization of belief of Sukhaviti, besides eminent monks’s faithful dissemination, translation of Sukhaviti classics and simple and easy means of practice, there were other important objective conditions, including the grave reality of the Jin and the Tang Dynasty, common pshychological demand, the ruler’s powerful help, influence of impressionistic thinking and the like. All these put together promoted the Chinesization of belief of Sukhaviti in the historical periods of the Jin and the Tang Dynasty.
