Abstract:
Structure is the subject of form and vehicle of other formal factors. The aesthetic character of form depends mainly on the relationship between structural forces. The teleonomy, communality, untarity and stability of ecological system generate its structural cohesion whereas its fertility, individuality, differentiation and changability make its structural tension. When structural tension adhered to cohesion, a linear and sequential beauty of ecological form resulted in ancient times. However, when tension deconstructs cohesion, the formless disorder results in modern times. A concordance of cohesion and tension has brought about the nonlinear beauty of ecological form. Hence a logical growth of forms of ecological beauty in history.
