Abstract:
In his early years of poem writing, Cui Hao mainly wrote graceful and pleasant Yuefu verse songs with varying structures, which greatly enriched the means of writing of this stock subjectmatter. His female subjectmatters were also varied, flexible and natural in devices of expression and length of text. However, in his late days of writing, Cui “radically changed his regular style of writing”, writing numbers of border poems, which showed the poet’s high craftsmanship in depicting the borderland, intense plot and exotic customs and styles. Cui didn’t write many poems but contributed numbers of lengthy texts of verse songs. His scenic poems were grandiose and impressive, giving a grandeur of the prosperous Tang Dynasty.
