Abstract:
Habermas and Foucault differed greatly in theory, which has been well explored up till now, but few has showed concern with their similar interests in theory. In fact, they showed similar theoretical interests in a social life by safeguarding democracy. Their similar theoretical interests presented themselves in exposing various autocratic problems in modern society, expressing the ideal of democratic social life and introducing dialogue criticism, a possible means to democratic life. Habermas put forward the theory of “reviving public realm”, which can be regarded as an ideal place for current dialogue criticism to create possibility to realize democratic values.
