Abstract:
In compiling Han Yu’s biography, disputable events were avoided in a respectful tone but similar experiences were recorded in appreciative and beautifying tone to describe Han Yu as a giant Confucian and leader of classic Chinese language, thus establishing the central place of Han Yu. Large numbers of Han’s essays were adopted into history, which showed the broad historians’ acceptance of Han’s talent in history and oratorical power. The “Preface of Han Yu’s Biography” presented an established evaluation of Han Yu as a allmighty talent, shaping a field effect of Han Yu worship. New Books of the Tang Dynasty wholesomely showed the conception of Han Yu worship, which indicated that the essence of Han Yu worship was in fact a presentation of reviving Confucianism. In the course of this presentation, old resources were converted into new theories.
