Abstract:
In the history of population in our country, scholars offered varieties of suppositions concerning Liaomin the King of Xuan 2800 years ago, but none of them is well acceptable. The case of the King of Xuan revealed no revival of the old rule, nor chase after escaped criminals, nor emancipation of surfs but the statistic means of population in the West Zhou Dynasty. Since the number of population was the key secret of a state in old ages, It was a common practice to carry out a population survey by an indirect means.
