Abstract:
A study of the wedding ceremony and family life of those relationcementing married princesses in the Tang Dynasty can help scrutinize succession and changes in marriage ceremony, extend the vision of studies of history of the Tang Dynasty, and view the different styles of princesses in the Tang Dynasty. Compared with the wedding ceremony of those common princesses, the wedding ceremony of the relationcementing married princesses was trimmed with a “tragic” and “exotic” color, which usually went through such steps as canonization, courtship, personal meeting, sending the bride, and turning the Han title to a barbarian one. After marriage, the princess always lived a humiliated and insecure family life.
