Abstract:
Hegel’s proposition “History is the progress of the free mind in necessity” generalized his understanding of the essence of history. Hegel showed his understanding of the essence of history in his analytic discussion of objective spirit. He left an important ideological heritage to contemporary times by comprehending the character of history in terms of the degree of realizing human freedom and evolution of man’s understanding of the essence of his own freedom. Modern philosophy’s criticism of Hegel’s view of history means objecting to dogmatic mode of thinking, but the partiality of its criticism deserves to be seriously reflected.
