Abstract:
Bai Yanhu, the wellknown leader in the late days of the revolt of the Hui people in Shaanxi between 1862 and 1867 in the Qing Dynasty, was also the organizer of the Donggan ethics when they crossed the border and settled down in Central Asia. However, there are few domestic sources recording Bai Yanhu’s life story. Even worse there are mistakes in those socalled authoritative dictionaries and encyclopedias. For example, it is generally believed that Bai was born in 1840, but the new Russian publication proves he was born in 1830. The Error is as long as 10 years.
