Abstract:
The capitals in ancient China were the sites of imperial political power centre, the spatial arrangement of which continued to be adjusted and reorganized according to changes in current situations of political, economic, cultural and military struggle of society. What paralleled directly to spatial arrangement were the rise and spatial transfer of substantial factors. The city of Chang’an was China’s ancient capital in the politically, economically and culturally prosperous Sui and Tang Dynasties. Its urban spatial arrangement and hierarchical standards set up an example for current China and the world in urban construction and are also an important part of historical cultural relics of our country.
