Abstract:
“The Dispute between Science and Metaphysics” 85 years ago was a significant event in the current academic world, which deeply influenced the orientation of Chinese philosophy in the 20th century. In that dispute, Xiong Shili ontologically delimited science and philosophy based on the discrimination between being and phenomenon. Furthermore, Mou Zongsan interpreted the treacherous association between science and philosophic dialectics by analyzing the relationship among the three different “selves” in “mental being” in terms of differences between Chinese and Western philosophy.
