Abstract:
Deng Xiaoping had a very deep affection for Shaanxi and had an inseparable tie with Shaanxi. Xi’an was the place where he started to participate in domestic revolutionary struggle. He lived fighting in northern Shaanxi as long as 28 months between 1935 and October of 1945. After the founding of new China, he revisited Shaanxi 6 times, stating many treasurable thoughts here, which were to be preparations and initiation of Deng Xiaoping’s theory. There are three main reasons for Deng’s sentiment for Shaanxi people and concern with development of Shaanxi’s social economy, that is, a solid sentimental basis out of his admiration for Chinese historical civilization, his role as the leader to control the wholesome situation of the country, and his sense of historical responsibility.
