Abstract:
So far as European novels are concerned, space is of special significance and function. Characteristic of mobility, publicity, grandeur, oddity, and “exoticness” in spatial construction, European novels show a very clear and strong feeling and awareness of space, especially adventure novels, which build up space by “foreignizing” comparison and principle of “compensating for the lacking”.
