Abstract:
The Hanyuan Hall of the Daming Palace, situated in the northeast of the Town of Chang’an in the Sui and Tang times, was built during the imperial title of Longxiang by the proclamation of Emperor of Gaozong as the political centre in his reign. It was in the Hanyuan Hall that magnificent imperial celebrations, such as New Year’s Day, and the Winter Solstice, took place,and kings of dependencies and chieftains or messengers of neighboring tribes were met. The grandeur of the Hanyuan Hall and the solemnity of the ceremony manifested the great influence of the Tang Dynasty. The agestricken hall witnessed the rise and fall of the Tang Dynasty.
