The mood of literary writing of Xi'an writers is obscure and complex, but shows certain traces to follow. Historically, Xi'an literary writing between the 1970's and the 1980's assumed a pragmatic and innovationoriented mood, whereas literary writing since the 1990's took on an intertwining of decadence and revival. Therefore, the disorderly moods of literary writing on the part of Xi'an writers can be properly categorized only by analyzing their literary works in terms of historical and regional culture, social politics and centuryend mood of Xi'an. Besides, borrowing from Beijing school and Shanghai school should be advocated to explore a way out of the spiritual crisis of Xi'an literature and develop characteristic literature of “Xi'an school”.
