不同语境下的宗教公共性及其对当代中国宗教之意义

摘要:
宗教不是一个空名,而是一个实在,是一个以信仰为纽带把社会成员联系起来的组织。任何宗教都不可能是私人或个人的。强调宗教的公共性,就是强调宗教团体对社会公共事务的关注。强调宗教、哲学、神学的公共性是西方社会思想的一种发展趋势。中外学者对公共性的理解存在的差异,是他们各自所处的不同文化背景和处境引起的。历史和现状决定了中国不可能再走政教合一的“公”的宗教道路,而就政府与宗教团体的关系来说,其最佳状态应当是相互调适,共存共荣,和睦相处。在当代中国,合法的中国宗教可以发挥作用的领域很多。

Publicity of Religion in Different Contexts and its Significance to Religion in Contemporary China

Abstract:
Religion is not hollow but substantial, as an organization to link social members. In this sense, no religion is private or individual. The publicity of religion is emphasized here to draw religious groups' notice to public affairs in society. Nowadays there is a tendency of development to emphasize the publicity of religion, theology and philosophy in the Western world of social ideology. However, in different cultural backgrounds and environments of existence, Chinese and Western scholars differ in understanding of publicity. For history and status quo, China will not tend to take the road of integrating state with a “public” religion. And for the relation between government and church, the best policy is mutually adapting, sharing woe and weal and harmoniously getting along.
