Abstract:
Liaozhaizhiyi attempted to deal with three types of love, that is, “heartfelt love”, “faithful love” and “true love”, which were also the author’s three views of love affairs. These views of the author’s succeeded the view of “supreme love” in the late Ming Dynasty, but presented the author’s individual craftsmanship in organization of stories and his unusual intelligence, which not only showed concern with human physical desire but also stressed spiritual refinement of love and exploitation of cultural connotation. In a word, the three types of love actually portrayed love between man and woman as a “cultural relationship”.
