Abstract:
Like that in poems in the Northern and Southern Dynasties and those in the Tang Dynasty, “the Town of Long” in Passing through the Fortress, one of Wang Changling's best-known poems, was used as an allusion, referring generally to a border town or a border fortress but neither to the Town of Long of the Huns nor to the Town of Long in the Kingdom of Qianyan nor mistakenly to the Lulong. The expression “Lulong” was first used either as a function word or as a lexical word and later turned from a current allusion to a classical allusion. Like “the town of long”, Lulong also refered either to a border town or to a border fortress.
