In recent years, urbanization has been picking up gears in our country. However, a quantitative study of effects of urbanization on ecological environment remains a hard nut to crack. The present project investigated the dynamic change of ecological environment in the course of urbanization of Xi'an by the approach of ecological traces based on the data from the Statistic Chronicles of Xi'an. We think that Xi'an should promote the development of hi-tech industry and service industry, pursue a high-quality residential pattern of life in terms of economy and environment-protection and intensify land administration and planning.
