Abstract:
The reaches of the Dingjiang River in the border region of Fujian anf Guangdong are the habitats of the Kejia nationality. Generations of the Han immigrants from the north were able to preserve the culture of the Han people in Central China in the reaches of the Dingjiang River, forming a Kejia community of the Han people which is different either from other Han communities or from the national minorities. All former studies attributed this fact to the geographical inaccessibility of this area in history. In fact, the reaches of the Dingjiang River was not inaccessible at all in history. It was not only a link between mountain and sea but also a juncture of communications. Besides, the area was one of the leading producers of brass, iron, timber, tobacco and paper.
