Abstract:
During the prosperous Tang Dynasty, besides the nationwide prevailing Buddhism, the Ao church, the Jing church and the Moni church from the West started to get popular in central China centred with Chang’an. Steady advancement of academic studies, domestic and abroad, and new discoveries in the field of archaeology show that the Ao church, the Jing church, the Moni church and the Buddhist church didn’t come either directly from western Asia, Rome, or India or simply by way of central Asia. In fact, in the course of eastward spread, these churches were all modified by styles and colourings of central Asia. So, it is safe to say that those churches prevailing around Chang’an were directly related to civilizations in central Asia.
