Abstract:
The Aysuhabo Kegef Mazha worship in the Tuyu Valley of Shanshan, an Islam holy land converted from a Buddhist holy land, is remarkably regional and ethnical both in form and in content. An analysis of varieties of social functions of this Mazha worship will reveal the stock and influence of various civilizations in the region during the preIslam period and absorption and vividly show transformation of foreign civilizations by the local ethnical culture. All this will help deepen our understanding of the multigenericity and complexity of ethnical civilizations in Xinjiang.
