Abstract:
Travels Across Starving Country and Records of My Impression in the Red Capital were contributed by Qu Qiubai after he rose in the literary world of the May 4th Movement. His intention of literary writing was to propagate the idea of salvation and a totally-new world outlook and political conception. A talented writer, Qu was mixture of literature and politics, which formed the whole of his personality. Without his political thinking, Qu the writer wouldn't have been established in history whereas without his literary writing, Qu the statesman would have been pale and isolated, lacking historical and personal attraction. Since his progress in lifetime career was closely connected with the new Russia, he was considerably successful in introducing, learning and practicing the experience of the new Russia. In terms of literature, these two prose literary works show that he was burning with righteous indignation and that he was honest and courageous enough to show his true feelings.
