Abstract:
Accelerating the deep integration of digital the economy and manufacturing has become a key force to support highquality economic development. This paper analyzes the impact mechanism of the digital economy on the highquality development of manufacturing industry from the perspectives of human capital, entrepreneurial activities and industrial upgrading, and empirically tests the theoretical understanding by using Chinese provincial panel data from 2006 to 2019.The results show that the improvement of digital economy development level has a significant positive effect on green total factor productivity of manufacturing industry, especially in relatively developed areas,the digital economy has a stronger driving effect on highquality development of manufacturing industry. Both human capital and entrepreneurial activities have a significant positive strengthening effect on digital economy to improve green total factor productivity of manufacturing industry, that is, digital economy can drive highquality development of manufacturing industry by expanding human capital accumulation and stimulating entrepreneurial vitality. The policy implications of the study are as follows: in the process of accelerating the deep integration of digital economy and manufacturing industry, regional development should attach great importance to the accumulation of human capital and activation of entrepreneurial ecology, and further optimize the industrial structure, so as to provide favorable conditions for the highquality development of digital economy enabling manufacturing industry.
