Abstract:
The Chinese Communists’ acceptance of Marxism starts from reading the text. Reading history is the field of vision that should be paid attention to in the research on the sinicization of Marxism. How early Chinese Communists to read The Communist Manifesto can be investigated from three dimensions: reading motivation, reading method and reading utility.From the perspective of reading motivation, they read The Communist Manifesto because of the need to solve practical problems, the inspiration from the theory charm of the text itself, and the influence from social relations and personal practical experience. From the view of reading methods, they adopted problemsolvingoriented reading, collective reading and individual reading, holistic reading and key reading, and comparative reading. From the perspective of reading effectiveness, the early Chinese Communists’ reading of The Communist Manifesto helped establish Marxist beliefs, promoted the spread of Marxism in China, and played an important role in the establishment of the CPC and the Chinese revolutionary program.
