Abstract:
China is a huge society with a long history and a vast territory. The development of different regions is very uneven. Understanding China’s regional differences is of great significance for understanding Chinese society and improving China’s national governance capabilities. From the perspective of village social structure we can clearly understand the differences between the North and the South in China’s rural areas, and from the perspective of economic and social stratification we can clearly understand the differences between the East and the West in China’s rural areas. From a cultural perspective we can clearly recognize the differences in farmers’ behavioral patterns and the regional differences behind them. This article focuses on the formation and influence of the core and marginal areas of Chinese history and culture. The division of cultural core areas and marginal areas helps deepen the understanding of policy practices such as targeted poverty alleviation.
